Current and Former GTL Students in Uganda Hold First Meeting

Release Date:  December 30, 2009 from GTL Newsletter

Thanks to the efforts of our Uganda coordinator Sister Salome Nnambi, the first meeting of current and former GTL students in Uganda will happen on November 28 in the capital Kampala. There will be presentations and dancing. GTL graduates will be surveyed on their experiences with GTL. This is all part of our increasing efforts to understand more about what happens to our students after they graduate. GTL does not require students to choose particular careers. Instead, we want to encourage girls to become successful, whatever ‘success’ means to them. Now many of our girls have graduated, we can begin to measure the effect we have had on their lives. On our next trip to Africa in May 2010, two volunteers experienced in evaluating educational programs (Nancy Wilber and Mary Ann Millsap) will assess how effectively we are enabling students to achieve their educational and life goals.
